The remainder of this post is a hold-over from my teaching days. I compiled it for the benefit of my students; several links are no longer valid. I kept it for my own reference. Someday I'll get around to cleaning it up.
ARCHAEOLOGY
Biblical Archaeology Society
ibiblio.org is one of the better Scrolls sites and includes descriptions, texts, and in many cases images of the Dead Sea Scrolls and related matter discovered in Qumran in the 1940's-1950's.
This is the Library of Congress exhibit of the Scrolls and contains a good deal of information as well as images of the scrolls and relevant artifacts. This site includes a very helpful glossary of terms any student needs to know in order to conduct fruitful research into the Scrolls.

Israel Museum in Jerusalem
This site has fantastic images of Babylonian cuneiform tablets.
This is a directory of sites pertaining to archaeology of the ancient world. The sections on Palestine, Greece and Rome will be of particular relevance.
This site contains images and maps pertaining to the NT and will be quite helpful.
This page in the PBS site contains an informative article (although it is now 30 years old) on the crucifixion of Jesus in light of a marvelous archaeological discovery made in 1968 in near Jerusalem.

BIBLE
Greatsite.com is an online showroom for an antique book and Bible dealer.
Gutenberg Digital has digitized the complete text of a 1454 Gutenberg Bible in color and with great resolution. The site also has several helpful articles about Gutenberg, early printing and book-making, and the world-altering effect that the Gutenberg Bible has had.

There are a number of words in the King James Version that have different meanings today than they did in 1611. The Web Bible Encyclopedia from ChristianAnswers.net will help you with these words.

The Internet Christian Library site is a directory of all kinds of online Biblical studies, periodicals, and other related web sites. The site also includes massive amounts of primary documents from across the span of church history.
Bible.org features in-depth Bible studies on each book of Scripture as well as dozens of topical essays on a variety of issues and questions.
Biblepicturegallery.com is a fine site that will add a visual dimension to your Bible study.
CHURCH HISTORY
Early Church Fathers
iclnet.org includes massive amounts of primary documents from across the span of church history.
Today in Church History is updated daily and presents significant events from church history in a clever format.
GEOGRAPHY and CULTURAL BACKGROUNDS
Bibleplaces.com features photographs and descriptions of sites in Israel, Jordan, Egypt, Turkey and Greece with an emphasis on biblical archaeology, geography and history.
Freestockphotos.com/Israel:just like the name implies with dozens of stock photos of Israel.
holylandphotos.org Ancientsandals.com Biblemaps.com Look for the free maps and photos.
David Padfield has collected a wonderful array of photos and articles.
Both Biblical-museum.org and preservingbibletimes.org are wonderful sites with lots of great content.
The Harvard Semitic Museum has a fabulous exhibit recreating ancient Israelite houses. The site is also has fine, and short, articles on several aspects of daily life in ancient Israel.
NEW TESTAMENT
NTimages.com contains images and maps pertaining to the NT and will be quite helpful.
This site specializes in the Jewish and Graeco-Roman background of the New Testament including archaeology, religion, and culture.
This site has dozens of links to images of the crucifixion in art. There are many nice color photos of icons, canvas and wood paintings, engravings, etc.
One cannot read the book of Revelation without being struck by those vivid visions and symbols. Felix Just of Loyola Marymount University has compiled a page of links to dozens of sites with artistic renderings of the images and scenes in Revelation.
The Duke University Library Papyrus Archive contains fantastic images, translations and descriptions of Greek and Latin papyrii. This is a great site for the historical and cultural background of the NT.
The Princeton Papyrus Archive is very similar to the Duke site above.

OLD TESTAMENT
Look here under Palestine and Mesopotamia.
This site has fantastic images of Babylonian cuneiform tablets. This is helpful for understanding covenants in the Ancient Near East as well as the style of writing and communicating in the earlier OT period.
